I hired a handyman company to work on a house in Lubbock County. There was no written contract for the job. The quote I recieved on the phone the was $1200. I received a bill for $1900 +. She billed for hours her employee didn't work and excessive materials. I wrote her a letter and adjusted the bill accordingly I paid her $1461.89. I wrote on the check "Final Payment for work performed on XXXX". She cashed it. I just received a letter requesting the rest or she will take additional action. Didn't she agree to my final payment when she cashed the check? If not, do I have any recourse? Her employee didn't sign in and out at my house nor did she come by to check on him.
Thanks for the advise.
