My group would like to host a Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) tournament, and I am seeking advice on what to include in the waiver.
For those unfamiliar with DDR, it is a video game played while standing on a platform. There are lighted squares on the platform that correspond with images on the game screen. During play, the game will direct certain squares be stepped on in time with the music, thereby directing choreography. Like most games, DDR takes the dancer through multiple levels of difficulty.
My group's concern is that a player will overestimate their ability or simply have a clumsy moment, resulting in a slip-and-fall that could cause serious injury.
The room for the tournament belongs to a college and is rented by our group. How can we determine the extent of our liability and how can we mitigate that liability?
