I'm in the final step of my divorce, & trying to file the final paperwork. I sent it all in last month & it was returned with a letter saying I was missing "proof of court-acquired jurisdiction". I'm not sure what that is, & more specifically what paperwork I need to file.

How long have you been married?

How long have you both been residents of California?

In order to have jurisdiction over your case, you have to meet the statutory minimums for a California divorce.

We were married on 9/21/09. I have been a resident all my life, he has been a resident since 2005

From what you say, you appear to meet the statutory requirements.

You might be in over your head.

Get a lawyer, if you want to make sure you get a divorce.
