I received a SIS 15 years ago and received five years bench probation. I successfully completed the probation and have no arrests or convictions since the one and only one.

Do I have to report a SIS as a conviction on a job application?
Does a SIS become a closed record?

Well, you were very fortunate.

A "SIS" is a suspended imposition of sentence.

Your SIS was NOT a conviction, rather it was your admission of guilt, allowing you to receive a deferred sort of sentence.

As long as you completed the terms of your sentence successfully, the SIS should absolve you from any criminal wrongdoing.

It should NOT show as a criminal conviction.

If someone runs a record check on you, the SIS you received should NOT be disclosed as a criminal conviction.

You had a great lawyer.

As a SIS is not treated like a criminal conviction, you should not be forced to disclose it on a job application.

Go forth, and sin no more!
