Hi,
I have a situation where a stranger I dated for 2 weeks made a threat to put a restraining order on me. ( for no reason ). If they did, and I didnt care because I want nothing to do with this person. Do I have to go to the hearing? If the order is granted which im sure it would. Does that effect me in any way?
I dont care to go through the waste of my time to even attend essentially.

Any thoughts?

Yes you need to attend it othewise this guy can tell tons of lies to the judge and get it granted and extended and it will go on your record possibly.

Depending on the state you live in, it could dog you for a long time. It can turn up in background checks for employment, it can prevent you from owning or possessing firearms, and it can disqualify you for certain types of employment as well.

If none of this concerns you, then go ahead and ignore it if it does happen, but do so at your own peril.
