A comic book property I wrote is being acquired by a company, and the contract reads "Contingent Compensation: Fifty percent of the gross sums actually received by Z2H from its sale, license and other exploitation of the Book throughout the world in all media."

Mainly, I just want to make sure I'm fairly compensated, and this sounds good to me. But since I'm giving them rights to both the book and future works in other media, I want to make sure there isn't legalese loopholes to be aware of.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Without the entire contract, it's tough to tell. Based on the passage you gave us, it appears you'll be entitled to 1/2 of the gross sales of anything related to your work.
