I live in Manchester, CT. I have rented a 2 BHK apartment since Jan 2012. On March 22nd, I turned on washing unit to do my laundry and went aside for other work. After 10 mins, I found lots of water in my apartment. Water also went downstairs and caused damage. Maintenance emergency people found issue with washing unit sensor. Sensor inside the washing unit is not working and that caused water to overflow.

Washing unit is not mine. It is provided by Landlords with the apartment.

My landlord is forcing me to pay for all the damages. Please let me know - am I liable to pay for all the damages?
Unfortunately, I do not have renters insurance at this point.

Only a court can tell you your libel. However given that the washer was not your property I don't see how Landlord can ask you to pay for damage unless there are other issues you have not mentioned

Agree re would be court decision. Agree also that since it was a landlord provided washer & you didn't deliberately do anything to cause the damage, you may not be responsible. (based on what you posted)
