Hi, I am a new poster.

I was recently contacted by a debt collector about a debt from many years ago when I was married. According to the debt collector they have received a judgement against me and will be pursuing wage garnishment.

I live in FL, where there is a head of household exemption for those who provide more than 50% of the support for a dependent child(ren) and earn less than $500/week.

My issue is this - I am currently 8 months pregnant. I am not married to the father and will not pursue child support (I know that he is unemployed). I will qualify for the head of household exemption once the baby is born.

What do I need to do to prove this? I lack the financial proof, as the baby will be born in July. Do I just accept the garnishment until I file my tax return next year? Is there anything I can do?
