My parents live in the Village of Greenwich, NY. The Village is installing a sidewalk on the edge of their property. The village says they have an easement.
Because this is a new construction project (there was never a sidewalk there before) I asked the Mayor for a copy of the land survey. The Mayor told me that a survey was not done and he did not feel that it is necessary to have one done because they located the iron marker post at the corner of my parents property.
My parents want to make sure the sidewalk is not placed on their property. Is there any way to make the village have a survey done? Do my parents have any rights if the sidewalk is on their property?
