state of new york:
i had to move out of an apartment because the living situation was unbearable (roommates smoked inside apartment when they said they were not going to, dirty atmosphere, and non stop late night visitors).
i sublease the apartment from them but they never made me sign a contract. i left 2/9, and now they are asking for feb's rent, but they already have my deposit..which i choose to forfeit.
they are not threatening legal action, can they do that?
