Vehicle in someone else's name, totaled.

My grandma bought me a car 6 years ago, both vehicle & insurance were in her name but it has always been in my possession. I was with her at time of purchase but for interest rate reasons I wasn't put on the loan. About 9 months ago she started showing signs of dementia so my aunt is in control of her estate. My aunt paid the remaining balance on said vehicle & we had been discussing getting the title transferred into my name. The vehicle has since been totaled & now my aunt is saying she is not going to give me the insurance $ so my 5 year old son & I have been walking for the last 3 weeks. As stated before, I have been in possession of said vehicle for 6 years, paid all repair bills & now I'm left with nothing. It seems like there should be something I can do?

Nothing. It was not your car. Nor was it your insurance policy. I suggest you find a car you can afford.

You can go buy your own car. You are not entitled to the insurance money.
I'm sure you saved some money due to grandma's generosity.
