"Using Somebody Else's Name On Traffic Ticket?" Michigan

So I have looking around alot of places to find an answer to a problem that I am having. I got pulled over because i had went through a left hand turn light that was yellow. The officer pulled me over and asked for my ID and I did not have it with me. I said a friends Name and Date of Birth. The officer came back to me and gave me a Disobey Traffic Signal, Vision Obstruction, and Careless Driving for not pulling over at the very first place I had seen. What i was wondering is, my friend wants me to go turn my self in and take the charge, what will happen to me versus happening to him in this situtaion. Thank You.

ID theft is a serious offense. Why shoud you expect your friend's insurance to go up for three years? You need to talk to your parents since these are serious traffic violations and they may want an attorney to sort this out for you. It will only get worse for you the longer you wait to straighten it out.
