unrepresented at a trial?

Can the courts actually prevent me the time to find an attorney to represent me in a settlement conference and then a trial? My attorney dropped the case just before I have to go to trial. Prejudiced my case....too late to find counsel and the courts won't set it over.
I don't know protocol.
