Hello all. I just received notice that the taxes on my mini home have not been paid for the past six years! My bank was calling and telling me I was in arrears for my morgage payment and this is what I found out.
1. My land and mini home are taxed separately in PEI (Prince Edward Island) of which I was unaware.
2. Tax bills in my name have been going to a box number for the past six years, again, I was unaware.
3. The bank never made application to be the designated payee of the taxes on the mini home.
4. The laywer never changed the title on the mini home to reflect my ownership, so it is still in the name of the previous owners.
Who is the responsible party in all this? Do I have the right to sue for negligence? Stress, undue hardship, etc.?
