Unfair business?

I inspect property for a land auction company. We normall get paid within 1 week of turning in an invoice (I'm a 1099 contract employee). It's been 2.5 weeks now. My supervisor says that the president has to see all checks and he's not due to be until later this week (this will make it 3 weeks). In the meantime, I can't go out on more inspections, since I don't have gas money. Our friends have been helping with food. Our church has helped with rent & bills. Meanwhile, I've asked for a copy of my contract I signed 2 1/2 years ago. So far silence. Do I have a case for unfair business practices or breach of contract, since they are with-holding my income, whether by purposefully with-holding or incompetent handling?

File a suit in small claims court to recover the moneys for the last invoice you submitted and check the company's financial situation to prevent you from performing work for them that you will not get paid timely for. Good Luck!
