Criminal Law Trying to bond him out Plz answer ASAP

A friend of mine is involved with a man from Mexico. He has his green card. Recently he was jailed and went to court. They had sentenced him to 1yr probation, Alcohol classes, and driving classes. They then told my friend that he had a $2000.00 bond with a immigration hold. What does that exactly mean? Will he be deported before he does his sentence? Can she still bond him out? I told her I thought he would have to do his sentence before deporting him. Is this true? It just doesn't seem fair that he would be deported before he does the time. I mean we (tax payers) paid for him to be in jail, and to go to court. Also she wants to know how soon would they deport him? And if she is pregnant (she hasn't taken the test yet) by this man would he still be deported?
