My landlord has sent me to a collection agency because she says I've only paid half of the early termination fee. I already paid $1000. She claims I owe $2000. Here's what the contract says:
"I/We agree, as provided in the rental agreement, to pay $1000 (an amount that does not exceed two month's rent) as liquidated damages or an early termination fee, if I elect to terminate the rental agreement, and the landlord waives the right to seek additional rent beyond the month in which the landlord takes possession."
Is she correct and I owe an extra $1000? Thanks for your help!
