I have a tree that grows on my property near the boundary line with my neighbor. We recently purchased the home, and were unaware that the tree hasn't been cared for in years past. The tree grows up into low voltage power lines running from the pole to homes over both my property, and my neighbors property. Since the homeowner is responsible for removing these types of limbs (not the power comp.), is my neighbor responsible for removing the portion over their property, or am I responsible for it all? Thanks for any help.

The tree is your property which extends onto your neighbor's property. By right, your neighbor could demand that you prune it.

If you are hoping to get your neighbor to help you pay for removal of pruning of the tree... good luck. :D

Power Company

Where I live the electric company pruned our tree away from the power lines as a courtesy. Are you sure yours won't? They won't prune the whole tree; just limbs too close to power lines. Won't hurt to call and ask.
