can i employ someone who was sponsored by a different employer and came here on a h visa? that employee is currently waiting for his greencard b/c his current employer applied for him and they told him he'd get it by december. i want him to work for me in the same type of field and he wants to come as well, but i don't want his paperwork to get stalled. can they stop their sponsorship on him?

on average, how long does it take for me to get an international worker over here?

would it be more efficient if we just wait till the greencard is issued?

You can employ someone on an H visa. There is paperwork to be done...........just consult you lawyer. If you have never hired one, then get a lawyer to do the paperwork with DHS.....I can't do that here. It is a process which requires care with strong legal implications and can't be addressed in such a forum. To get an international worker here can take anything from a year and above. There is no time limit. You can just wait to for the employee to get a GC in December...........that is faster and cheaper.
