I recently received a notice from a law firm acting as a collection agency. The case # was referenced on the letter but no indication was made as to the offense. I called the firm and was told it related to a speeding ticket (12 miles over in a 60 mph zone) from 6 years ago. At the time (I don't recall the violation) I was a resident of the state of Texas but now I reside in Louisiana. Should I just pay the fine or has a statute of limitations expired or is near expiration? This is the first notification I have received and I don't even have a record of the event.
