A person is in the state of Texas and they have aquired quite a few traffic tickets, the court date is set and they will be attending. If they are not able to pay the fines, and opt for the jail option, how will this effect one's "permenant record"? Or is it best to find some way to pay the fines vs. jail time? Thank you.

It is always best to pay the fine rather than go to jail. Most courts will allow you to submit some type of payment plan. What permanent record are you talking about?

If you are talking about their MVR then it makes no difference whether they go to jail or pay the fine. The tickets appear on the record as guilty regardless.
