Tracking device

I bought a car less than a month ago and I financed it. Here we are 3 weeks in and they decided to call me and tell me they need the vehicle for an hour. I asked why the need it and he told me it's to install a tracking device. I have bought numerous vehicles before and I never had this happen. I was wondering if they are allowed to do this?

Did you sign anything on any of the paperwork in which you consented to a tracking device being on the car?
Without your consent no device should be installed. You are under no obligation to take the vehicle to them. Ignore their calls and they will go away.

If it is a buy here, pay here, it is likely in your contract. If not and you are late on a payment expect it to disappear due to repo. The advantage of the gps device is they usually use the one which gives you light stages to warn you of impending shutdown and repo.
