I recently was told, three weeks ago, by my former employer that he would not be able to employ both of his two technicians for the winter. Its a pool company. I decided to go out on my own. Now I have received a letter from a lawyer stateing that I have commited tortious intetional interference with a business and Tortious intetional interference with contract. As well as spreading false and malicious rumors to the customer base of said company "which is slander per se". All in an atempt to pilfer customers.

I have established a legal company name with apropriate licencing. I am collecting potential customer information that is public knowledge from the city codes department in regards to pool permits for marketing purposes.

And above all I did not sign a no compete clause.

Ive only been in business two weeks. Do I continue moving forward?

If you are contacting previous customers, there could be a problem. You are better off not to solict them and you should discontinue working for any of them. It is also not good to talk about your former employer.

New customers or a general advertisement so they can contact you are OK.
