I am currently enrolled in a "Paramedical Aesthetician" program at Southeastern College in Jacksonville FL. When I started apparently my teacher had taken a leave of absence due to her having chrones disease in which she wasn't in school for the three months prior. To my knowledge the students already there had no time in the lab, had instructors who weren't qualified who would sit in the classroom and have them do busy work and when the teacher came back from her leave she took the work they had done and threw it in the trash. In this time the students were supposed to be learning how to wax, do chemical peels, and make up and they did not receive such training. When i started my teacher seemed to be in good health and I recall she didnt miss any days until about november, and then she started missing more and more... we were told we had to stay in the class and do whatever assignments because it was a clock hour program and that we couldnt do the assignments at home. After christmas break we came back and she seemed to be there most of the time until we reached our February module when she said she would be taking another leave of absence and we would have a few people coming in that week, which never happened. we had an instructor here and there and when we asked if we could leave without it counting against us we were told we needed to stay or we would receive make up work. Finally after threatening to get a lawyer our dean of the school came to talk to us and told us we would be refunded for the module. And its a clock hour program but the state of FL only requires 300 hours to become a facial specialist since PARAMEDICAL AESTHETICIAN isnt recognized in any state. We are required 1300 hours for this program and we are paying 30,000 for the one year program. And since the teacher nonsense we have moved our school to keiser university, when we were at southeastern they said we would have our own lab and we had heard we would be sharing with the massage therapy students and they told us no thats not true. We were also promised portable sinks and now we are in a lab with the massage students, we used to have a lab with 2 sinks and 5 beds with an outlet at every bed, now we have 4 beds, and we only have 2 outlets and last week we were told we werent getting portable sinks and we would have to continue to wash our FACIAL implements in the public restroom! And we have two micro machines, and a steamer for each bed and towel cabbies plus a wax pot and we only have TWO OUTLETS!! AlsoToilet aersol is a thing and i definitely dont want to put it on clients faces. Im at my witts end and i dont know what to do my student manual says i have complete the SEC program before applying for my license but i just dont feel like any of this is fair, if i wouldve known they were moving to another school i never wouldve joined and i never wouldve joined knowing that my license will never ever be recognized as a Paramedical Aesthetician. Is there any way I can get out of this contract with this school and get my license or is there any legal action i can take against them im well passed my hours requirement for the state of florida i have 700 hours please help me!

I'm sorry to hear about your problem but I'm not sure what legal action is available to you since I don't understand the entire issue. I don't know where it says your license wouldn't be recognized except at the end. At first it says that you can only be licensed in the state of Florida. If that's something you knew (or should have known) going in and if it wasn't misrepresented, I'm not sure you can complain.

Regarding the rest, if they materially didn't deliver and as a result you won't get the Florida license you thought you would get, it would seem that you certainly should have a cause of action to sue them if they don't refund you the money for the course. After all, why would you invest all that time in a money for a licensing program which won't end up providing you with a license? I'm not sure if this is the case.

As with the other issues, since you're all in the same boat you'll have power in numbers. That's the best I can say for right now. Speaking to an attorney would also help and who would be able to get all of the relevant facts.
