Tenant vs Neighbor's complaints

We live out of state and have a single mom with 4 children renting our condo. We've received numerous phone calls by a neighbor who complains of the children's misconduct. The misconduct pertains to general children's noise, riding bikes in the street and claiming the kids are unsupervised. The neighbor has called the police and Social Service regarding 'sexual misconduct' by the 6 year old and the tenant has been cleared of any wrong doing.

The tenant has a lesbian daughter (16) and this was divulged during a communial prayer meeting when everyone was still getting along (Nov '04). Ever since then the families have had bickerings and disputes and now this has escalated to a neighborhood who is trying to oust our tenant. She is receiving financial support from HUD (similar to Section 8), has been a diligent tenant and paying rent on time.

My questions are 2 fold:
1.) Who do we believe (?) and what protection does the tenant have?
2.) How far do we, as landlords, get involved?

Your advice will be welcome.
Sincerely;
California Home Owner
