Tenant hereby waives all rights to a jury trial

My rental agreement says: "Tenant hereby waives all rights to a jury trial in any litigation relating to this tenancy."

Is this normal? It sounds like it should be illegal to ask someone to give up her Constitutional rights.

It is common. Disputes are often settled in mediation.
