Corporate Law Switching From Corporation to LLC

I am a member of my communities road maintenance corporation. Some members are considering switching from a Corporation to a LLC because of liability. Would switching over give better protection from liability.

Why do they think that an LLC gives better protection against liability than a corporation?

BTW, the best thing that gives your protection against liability is LIABILITY INSURANCE!
