Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft still waiting :(

ok so its been a month and almost a week now and still no court date. what are the chances that the store i stole from could drop the charges? and if they did drop the charges would there still be a court date? me and my friend stole over 200 but under 250 and we live in nj and yes the police were invovled.

The chances the store dropped charges are almost zero. Often times these letters with court dates can take some time

If your court system has an online database, check it out. The summons might have been lost in the mail. If they don't, call the courthouse in the area and ask them. They can tell you the status of your charges. Sometimes, charges take a while to be entered into the system as they have to be reviewed by the DA before they can proceed with court.

Be proactive on checking on the status. You cannot use the excuse that you did not receive notice, and if you fail to appear, you will be arrested the next time you come in contact with the police as they do not take kindly to people who do not go to court.
