Statue of limitations

I live in Texas. I got a phone call the other day from a company that bought a debit from 1997. Am I still liable to pay and can they sue me in court for the balance?

Probably depends on the Dept if it is like Montana.

You can google the SOL, but I have never found that to be accurate. You will have to go into your Texas codes/statutes and find it yourself.

Now, if you do find the SOL has expired, and they file an action, you can sue for abuse of process. Thats one plus for you.

I would think you are safe after 11 years, but I'm not looking at the SOL for Texas right now. If you can't find it, come back, and I will see if I can get you started.
