Song titles

Can I name a product I plan to make and sell after a song, movie, or person?

You have the power to accomplish or do many things.

Can I name a product I plan to make and sell after a song, movie, or person?

Can you do so? Of course you can, but I doubt that's what you intended to ask.

If you're interested in an assessment of the legality, that requires specifics that should not be posted on a public message board. Ask yourself this: Are you using the name because it is apt for your product or because you want to capitalize on the works of others to help you sell your product?

If what you want to use arises to the level of a trademark, then the trademark holder can very much take issue with you. Believe me that Disney (think just about any movie they own including through their subsidiaries Pixar and Touchstone, etc...) and Warner Brothers (particularly the Harry Potter franchise) are especially litigious.

As pointed out, you should either get permission or talk to legal counsel about exactly what you are intending to do.
