My roommate let me use his car. I skidded into a snowbank in a residential area in front of a home in between the sidewalk and street/curb, i left the car there to get someone to help me get the car out. When i got back it was gone. I found out i was impounded. Can i be charged with a crime? What fees may i be liable for?

If there was any damage to public or private property then there is the potential for a hit and run charge, but it would have to be proven that you were the driver.
Your friend will have to pay tow/impound fees to get the car back, and will likely expect you to take responsibility for that cost as well as the cost of any repairs to the vehicle.
It is not likely that you have any criminal charge to worry about, but you know your responsibilities here, and yes you do have some liability. If you don't work things out in a friendly manner with your friend then you may end up in court over it.
