Hi,
I have a question.
My boss is away on a business trip. and our school
needs to sign a document releasing information on our school
and whom to send the bill to.

He has asked to signed his name.
Is this legal? will he be able to sue me later for fraud?
because there wouldn't be any witness that he asked
me to sign his name. Is there a letter I could make
that says that he gave me permission to do this so
that I will not get in trouble?

I'm just really concerned...

Thank you

Don't you people have faxes?

It is legal to sign another person's name, but you need their permission. You've got his oral permission. That's sufficient to give you authority.

The potential risk you face is that if he seeks to resile from the signed agreement later, he could conceivably say that he never gave you permission. He DID, but it was oral, and that might be difficult to prove.

There is no document you can draw up that gives you permission - only he can do that. And presumably if he could give you such a document, he could just sign the papers in the first place.

You can make a written record of your conversation, which might be of some use to help prove he gave you permission in the event he later seeks to resile.
