Should I accept this promotion?

I work for a hemp shop in Georgia. The shop was raided by the city police force 2 years ago because they believed that some of the product sold in the store was illegal. The owner won the case in court and the police do not really mess with the shop anymore. The owner wants to make me the manager of the place so he can pursue other ventures. I would be taking over all of his duties except for ordering product, which raised a red flag. Some of the hemp that we carry is pretty potent so I have my suspicions about illegal products being in the shop. My question is, if the owner were to be selling illegal things in the shop, would I be in danger of being arrested as an accomplice if I manage the shop?

Yes, you definitely would be. In fact, even being an employee places you in such a "danger".

I've ALWAYS thought managers were employees, too.

Some managers are given "special powers" and receive more compensation and "bennies" by the employing organization; they're still employees aren't they? :D
