How serious of an issue is this?

I know a guy who stayed temporarily with a girl and used her address on the contact info section on his storage contract. He had all his belongings in the space. A month later he moved from the girlfreind's house. He continued making payments to the storage facility. They apearantly missed two payments. They sent him notice of this but he didn't receive it. The x girlfreind, it turns out, was taking his mail, instead of returning it to sender, opening it, and set upon the storage facility with her freinds to purchase the etirety of the guys property.

There is no way she could have know of the auction unless she was opening his mail.

Can she be charged for this and be made responsible for loss of his property?

Its a given that he failed to make a change of address. But she tampered with his mail in order to get his belongings.

Any thoughts on this one?
