I was sexually molested from the age of 5-15 by a male peer. This peer was being abused simultaneously by his next door neighbor, a teenage boy that babysat for him on a regular basis. Although I was never molested by this teenager, my peer repeated their actions on me. I have been seeking a good therapist and trying to reclaim my life/identity since the abuse stopped. It has been extremely difficult to do so. I suffer with acute anxiety and depression along with several co-morbid illnesses, such as anorexia, OCD, and a possible schizoid personality disorder. My question is what my rights are if I were to press charges and what, if anything, am I entitled to as compensation? I am more interested in ensuring that these individuals are not continuing to molest children! I tried contacting my peer hoping we might be able to support one another in recovering from past hurts. He refused to admit any wrong. What is your advice? What if any action should I take? Thank you for your time.
