Service of notice of appeal from municipal court

I filed an appeal in district court for a conviction out of municipal court. A copy of the appeal was sent by district court to the municipal court clerk and city attorney that is noted on the appeal documents. However, statute procedure indicates "defendant shall cause notice of the appeal to be served on the city attorney prosecuting the case". There is no time frame indicated.

I am certain a copy was sent to the municipal court but I am wondering if I should go ahead and serve a copy to the city as a formality so they can not try to hang me on a procedural issue?
