My son was shot multiple times and now our life feels threaten! Should my landlord return my deposit? He advised he may allow me to break the lease if proper documents are provided. There has been 7 shooting in the last two weeks in my neighborhood.

Generally the landlord does not have to allow you to break a lease or return your deposit if the dangerous conditions are outside the landlord's control - external to the building (such as neighborhood has become dangerous).
