I am currently filing chapter 13 bankruptcy. My husband who has a mental illness bought some jewelry on our jewelry store's credit card and pawned it about a year ago. A few months before this I had cancelled the card with the company, but they did not follow through. When I finally found out about this the jewelry had been lost in pawn. I have made 2 payments to the jewelry store totallying $565.00 the total cost of the jewelry was about $1000.00. Now they want $8000.00 or I can return the jewelry. I'd love to return it, but it is gone!
I'd like to pay the original total and have it over with. Could this be a possibility? I feel this is partly their fault due to the fact that they did not really cancel my cards when I asked them to. They have really harassed me over this and are very unwilling to help me out so far.
