I work in group homes as a caregiver for people with disabilities. On Christmas eve I worked with a staff who I didn't get along with. We picked at each other all day. The following day my boss very kindly and regretfully informed me that I had been reported to the county for abuse of a client over an incident that happened the day before. She told me what I was reported for, which was an exaggeration of something I did, but she is not allowed to say who reported me. I'm suspended from work until the county investigates. It has been almost 2 weeks and I'm not working. The boss said, basically, don't call the county, they will call me. I believe I'm innocent of abuse although guilty of not following portocol. What are my rights in this situation and is there anything I can do to improve my case with the county? The person who I believe slandered me has since been fired for not showing up to work.
