I am needing to know if I have a legal right to break a lease. The landload rented my daughter a duplex. She has had sewer problems every other week for 4 months. the landlord would pump the sewage from under the house and has said the problem was fixed. This has troubled me so I call code inforcement. Code inforcement went and checked and also found that a fire code was found. All of the windows in the house were screwed and nailed shut. The landlord told the code inforcer that he did it for the renter before my daughter. And told him that he needed to fix it. ........my question is can I break the lease due to the fact that the landlord knew he has broke the fire code but rented the duplex tto my daughter anyway. I feel that he has put my daughter in danger if there was a fire. Th code inforcer told me if there had been a fire she could not have gotten out. any help would be very hehelpful.....thanks
