Reduced cost attorneys

A couple of years ago a friend of mine payed a finder fee to some legal service that then entitled her to get an attorney at a guaranteed hourly rate that is well below the local average. I have searched and searched the Internet for such a service and can't find anything like it.

Does anyone know of a service like this? I have limited funds and the ability to get an attorney at a reduced cost is likely the only way I can afford it.

Is it pre-paid legal? If it is be very careful with this company. It is a multi level marketing organization that often contacts people desperate for legal help and sells them a package when it reality, it often does not help them at all. Other than PPL I do not have any idea sorry.

Thanks for your reply, but no it wasn't pre-paid legal. It was a flat fee search thing. Attorneys agree to charge the fee that the search service offers and the client pays the search service to find all of the attorneys within a certain mileage of the client's zip code or city. But all of the actual legal fees are paid directly to the attorney as they normally would be, just at a reduced rate.

My friend's attorney charged her somewhere around $75/hour under the finder agreement, but his normal fees were closer to $175/hour.
