recently purchased house now being condemned

The home was recently purchased and closed on June 10th. Last week a building permit was obtained through the city to make repairs and renovations to the house. Two days ago the same city came and notified me the they are planning to condemn the house. There was nothing in any of the paperwork at closing that stated the house was on a list to be condemned. Can they do that if repairs are in the process of being made what are my rights? How long do I have to make the repairs?

These are questions you need to be asking the folks who condemned the house.

Also, it could be for other reasons: urban renewal, new highway, etc.
