RE Agent/Broker Actions Ethical?

Our house was close to foreclosure but listed with a local real estate for sale. We told the agent at the time of listing both (1) that the house was close to foreclosure so a quick sale was of upmost importance and (2) that a family member may help us by purchasing the house and then allowing us to stay here and pay the mortgage payment. He said he understood and would do what he could to help. The family member agreed to purchase the house and we contacted our agent and asked him to draw up an 'official' offer from the family member to us. He stated that he could not do that because it would constitute fraud because a family member could not purchase the house. We went around and around with him concerning this and he still contended it would be a waste of everyone's time. (?) After being on the market for over 3 months, he nor any other agent from any realty had shown the house - not one time. The foreclosure sale was set and we contacted the mortgage company ourselves about our family member wanting to purchase the property. They had no problem with it although the loan closing could not take place before the sale. We asked our real estate agent if we and/or the family member needed to be at the sale. He told us no and later told us no one had shown up for the sale. We had a loan closing scheduled for the next week and because the family member didn't have cash at closing, the mortgage company lawyers refused to go through with the closing and their office had said if the loan didn't close that day, that was it for us. Had the real estate agent drawn up the offer from the family member to us, it would had been in a timely manner to execute the loan closing and we would not be losing our home. His actions were unethical, he lied to us about being on our side and trying help. We feel his lack of action was the last factor causing us to lose our home. Is there any law to support a lawsuit against him and the broker?
