Hi, My husband is in a similar situation but he does have an email (from 1 year ag0) from his boss stating his promotion, raise and an additional 1500 stock options. His buy price at the time should have been $8. Well, he realized a few months ago the additional options were not added to his porfolio. Since then, he has been back and forth with HR who just this week told him they have given him 3000 options instead at current stock price, which is $38 and the vestment period starts now. Well, he would have already vested some of the stock he was originally promised at a much lower price. He figured out his loss at this point and sent another email to HR and hasn't heard back. What should he do?

Email, huh? What can an email prove?

I suggest you speak with a lawyer, otherwise, he's gotten all they're going to give him.

I suspect the email is worthless.

What did HR or his manager say about the validity of the email?

He can have a lawyer review the e-mail but generally an e-mail would not rise to the level of a binding employment contract.

Maybe he will hear back from HR. (though I have no idea what they will say)
