Hi,

I was recently arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. After spending the night in jail i received a court summons in the new year.
My J-1 visa expires at the end of this year and i have to renew the visa in order to come back for the next semester and also the court appearence.
Will this jeopardise my chance of getting another visa and do i have to declare that i have been arrested on my visa application as i have yet to be charged with anything.

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure but they don't seem to be "crimes involving moral turpitude" so it would seem that you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Moral turpitude has been defined as "fraud, larceny and intent to harm a person or thing." That doesn't seem to be the case here.
