My HOA (Homeowners Association) in Houston, Tx. has been raising fees the last 5 yrs. (from$48 to now $650) The Golf Club has sold to a Corporation that wants to build Apts. or other type of housing on the 8 acres. The Hoa hired a lawyer to fight this matter in court because they are afraid the area will flood more . The Corp. just keeps postponing court dates the last 8-10 months. Last years dues were $250, now they raised it to $650($400 more)to cover HOA Lawyer fees. There are about 1100 properties in Inwood Forest so I find that hard to believe the Lawyer charged $440,000 so far when it has not even been settled yet. They said if the property owners do not pay they will pit a lien on our homes. The deed restrictions state they can raise maintenance fees but I don't see anywhere where it says we have to pay for lawsuits the HOA files. The HOA is also being sued from a homeowner because they put a lien on her house because she would not remove some gazing ball & decorative hubcaps that were in here own backyard. Do we have to keep paying Lawyer fees everytime the HOA wants to pursue someone in court.
