problem with ex boyfriend

i want my ex boyfriend to return a vehicle under my name and he just won't do it. he has been giving money to pay for the car but i am the one paying for the insurance and no longer can afford it. in any case, he just does not want to return it. what ca i do?

Inform him that you require him to return it by a certain date. If he will not do so, you will remove the insurance from the vehicle and report to the DMV that the vehicle is no longer within your control and he will be unable to drive the car. I'd also ry to take pictures of the car prior that the car must be returned in the current condition or he will be responsible for any damages. I might send a written notice via a certified letter about termination of the insurance. Probably the best way - I'd do it this way if it were me but there are differing opinions.

What Prof said will work but I personally would do it this way. Notify him by certified letter to return the vehicle within three days of receipt of the letter or you will file charges of conversion with the police. He has no right to the vehicle and will get into real trouble if he does not return it. I am assuming the vehicle is titled in your name alone.
