What happens if i plead guilty to my shoplifting charge but i took the Diversion course before hand?

yes! because the store manager told me if i plead guilty since it is a first offense it wnt be as bad

As you took the word of a retail store manager as legal advice? 
From the very store you stole from!? 
Not sure he has your best interest at heart or he is qualified to give such advice

NO! :dgrin Here are my step by step suggestions
. Start calling lawyers many offer free consultations. Ask what your defense options are. Explain you have or are taking NASP course
. If you can hire one of these lawyers. If not see further steps
. When you go to court (or before) and find you cannot afford an Attorney request Publice defender and either plead not guilty ot stand mute.
. If not instructed when you call Judge will then instruct you what to do to get Public defender
. Now its possible Public Defender might not meet with you until court date and may have already talked to DA about plea deal. Here is where those consultations come in handy. You will a;ready know your best option. If Public Defender comes to you with anything less than tell him what you want and for him to present that deal to DA
Just so you know walking into court and pleading guilty is like signning a blank check. Once you do that the Judge is free to give you any sentence he desires long as its with sentencing parameters for charge(s). you need to have a deal worked out with DA and your lawyer
