I filed on a debt collection and the 30 days for a response after serving the complaint expired and I did not received a repsonse form the defendant

After 45 days, I filed a motion for default judgement for the amount claimed in the complaint.

What do I do next? Can I contact the court to determine their plans?

SC civil court is the venue

Contact the clerk. The judge will set a hearing on the amount of damages. You still have to prove the amount owed and then all you will get is a judgment. Unless they own real property, your chances of ever getting anything are slim.
