I am filing bankrupcty on my credit card debt. My lawyer said he can protect $20K of assets. He wants to change the deed to the house from joint name to my husband(who I am divorcing him once the bankruptcy is completed). If I do that, will I be giving him ownership of the house? I do not believe the house is in jeopardy of loss in the bankruptcy.

Yes, you will be giving him ownership of the home in the entirety. You should discuss this with your lawyer.
